Review

This Hindi remake is of a Malayalam film starring Mohanlal and directed by Jeethu Joseph.

This movie keeps you on the edge of your seat, like many other films but there is that hint of extra Bollywood masala in it. Tabu enters like a boss!  Ajay gives a good performance. I was not totally convinced by Shriya’s acting though. The daughters gave a good performance. 🙂

The first half introduces you to the family of four (Vijay Salgaonkar, Nandini, Anju and Anu), who are a perfectly happy middle-class family enjoying once in a month shopping and pizza trips to the nearby town. A perfect, small, happy family.

Then enters the intruder… At which point, we watched in shock as the family takes “care” of the situation and is then slowly tutored back to normal by Vijay for the sake of their freedom.

Vijay, a local TV cable operator, watches TV shows non-stop, making him a brainiac at where exactly the police would start searching for clues, how they would link each clue back to them. He eradicates all clues that could implicate his family.

In the midst of the confusion, we were totally confused as to which team we were cheering for, Vijay’s team, who had acted defensively, as any other sane person would have, or the police, who were just trying to solve the missing case, actually half the time scratching their heads. 😛

May the best man win this mindgame ! 😀

Some reviews say that the remakes of the original film, have nothing to brag about, as they are all lesser versions of the former. I really have to get my hands on the Malayalam version. 🙂
